Linda asked:
Whenever it rains a lot, it gets really damp in my basement. After a little while, these black moldy spots start spreading across the walls. Does anyone have any tips as to how to get rid of the mold, and perhaps prevent more mold from growing? Thanks a bunch!
Well… I don’t think I’ll be able to stop the damp very well. There are too many possible sources of rainwater seepage into my basement. I will clean my gutters again though. Thank you all for your suggestions!

Mold Testing – does it help?

Mold kits can be bought to test your home yourself, the sample is gathered by you and then it is sent to a lab where it is identified. Take the proper precautions when taking the sample, wear a surgical mask and gloves, and clothing that is easily washable. Please keep in mind that the safest way to find out if you have mold in your home is to contact a mold remediation inspector. A Professional mold inspection completed by a mold inspector will give you an accurate assessment of mold growth in your home. Find out what services mold inspectors provide here.

Some pudding was found covered in a black, powdery mold that had a strong smell of ammonia. Does anyone have an idea of what it could be?

Mrs. Spock asked:
There is a six inch area with speckled bits of dirty water. There is no black or green color, just a dirty water color. Should I be concerned about mold? I live in an apartment townhouse. The roof is right above my bedroom.
