Tommy asked:

What is the best way to dispose of this furniture and mattress foam, if no safe recycle is possible? This foam, common in dumps and yards across America, contains a toxic flame retardant.

While foam products are not biodegradable, we can and do recycle all kinds of foam products. Foam products are 100% recyclable and they are used to make new packaging and other products every day. If you are looking for a site to recycle at, go to the link and ont he right side are three links to search for a site that will accept your molded foam.

One of the most common uses for recycling is to make carpet pads to go under carpets. I think it’s called composite foam.
