Can modeling clay be safe as a fish tank ornament, if a proper sealant is used?

The clay is air drying (Brand name: plus) and I have used a water resistant acrylic paint (Liquitex-basics). Is there an non-toxic sealant that would work on the mold? (fresh water fish tank)

I’m not sure about the clay, but the water resistant acrylic paint may be toxic to your fish. Any product that has mold inhibitors in it will kill your fish.

Modeling a clay ornament would be safe if you are no less than 100% sure that it will no release any chemicals into your fish tank. And most sealants are generally toxic, unless you can find rubber-based sealants, which i have found before. But it all depends on how big the space you are trying to seal is. If its small or line-like (like the shape of a crack), you can simply use a glue gun or something like that. If it’s big, i don’t really know what to tell you.

I think it would be much safer just to not use it. Better safe than sorry!
It also depends, how much, where, what type etc. Lots of variables.
