Biofreak asked:

If I spray vinegar on my shower tiles after I shower, will it help kill and prevent mold?
Regarding using bleach: Which brand of bleach is best?

yes, but I probably wouldn’t do it every time. use a 50% diluted solution to kill the bunch that is already there and then just spot clean occasionally if needed or if you feel you really need to do it every time, use an even more diluted solution. using straight or 50% diluted every time is overkill that will waste your money and run the risk of skin irritation from over exposure. I had a moldy spot on the drywall on the roof of my shower that I sprayed several months ago & haven’t had to re-spray yet.

About vinegar, this site says its good for killing mold, as for prevention, I suppose if you spray it regularly it will prevent as well:

Regarding bleach, I’m sure even the cheapest store-brand bleach has the same chemicals as expensive standard bleach, so save your money. Just remember to pick up some spray bottles for the bleach-water mix. And here’s an additional tip: rinse out the spray mechanism with plain water after you use it for the bleach-water, because the bleach will decay the rubber gasket in the spray mechanism after a while.

Vinegar may inhibit the growth of mold and mildew is the bath, however if you already have an existing problem it would be a tough battle using such a weak product as vinegar. An alternative to bleach that is considered to be less noxious and is quite effective on mold/ mildew is hydrogen peroxide. You will need to do several applications over a period of about a week.
As for one brand of bleach being better than another- they’re all about the same, they all contain chlorine.
