I opened the can and found a small circle of black mold. I scooped it out but was wondering if I can still use the paint?

Yes, Daisy you can. Just scoop out all the mold and then stir the paint real well and use it. The only thing about using paint you have had around the house for a while is that it has a tendency to be darker than it was originally even if one stirs the paint well so you may want to do a sample test if you are trying to match the paint.

are you sure it was mold? it could have been tint? if MOLD is evident paint will be SOUR in odor and would cause a fowl odor in room. do not spread/ use moldy paint. how old is this paint? over 3 years? goto home center pay $16 for some fresh paint if you think it is bad. paint should make your space feel “FRESH” not worse!
