is black mold from clam chowder dangerous?

My roommate in college ate some clam chowder a few weeks ago and left the remainder sitting out… she left for the weekend and the smell got really bad all of a sudden, and i think it’s making me sick. i’m having a lot of weird symptoms like scratchy throat and very bad caugh, dizzyness/lightheadedness, stomach pain and digestion problems, and this weird tiredness i’ve never had before (and i had mono!) where whenever i’m in the room i just randomly get very sleepy and sleep for about a half an hour before waking up. it’s been happening for the last 3 days, and i feel better when i’m not in the room.

the mold is black and green, i put the bowl by the window and took a very quick picture on my cell since i didn’t want to be close to it:

I genuinely don’t know anything about mold so I have no idea what to do about this… it’s making me very sick though!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could this be black mold in my air filter?

I recently changed my air conditioning unit’s air filter (it’s been probably 5 months since it was changed). It looked like this:

I’ve never seen an air filter this bad. Is it possible this is black mold? (I have several boxes full of papers in my house that came out of a house that definitely had a mold problem & the boxes & papers don’t smell so good). We also burn a lot of candles – like we have 2-3 candles lit all evening almost every evening. What do you think? Should I be worried about mold?

Where is the best place to live for mold & grass pollen allergy sufferers?

My family has been exposed to toxic mold. I have two sons, 8 & 3, plus a baby girl on the way. We are all extremley sensitive to mold now and need to be in a low humidity, low mold climate.

Arizona and Nevada are probably the first places people think of. But both states are actually on the top ten list of states with highest toxic mold rates.

The top ten moldiest states:

1. Texas
2. Florida
3. Oklahoma
4. South Carolina
5. Nevada
6. Arizona
7. California
8. South Dakota
9. Tennessee
10.Kansas

My three year old also has an allergy to grass pollen, but that only last for about 6 weeks of the year and we can make that time tolerable. We can not tolerate the mold though!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
I wish the ranking went to the 50th! That would make it easy.

How long does it take for bread mold symptoms to show? Help?

I was eating soup and got some bread to go with it. I wasnt really thinking about it but I kind if looked down at the bread, Id already eaten a piece and a half. There was a dry, greenish-blackish mold on the crust, only about an inch’s worth and Im bugging out. Ive read up on it and basically what Ive got is that if Im allergic to molds, im pretty much screwed, if Im not, I MIGHT be screwed, I could have my face decompose so fast that I could watch it happen, and a bunch of other stuff. I mean, Im scared. Some people say it’s not likely that it was toxic, but on the off chance that it is, how long will it take for the mold symptoms to show? Should I go to the hospital or something? Im only 13, so will the mold be more dangerous to me than an adult? Should I call 911 or something?? The bread was six days old and I read that doctors found the most toxic mold to be 7 days in….Help me!

I believe I have a mold problem in my house and my family is getting sick. What should I do? Where to start?

I bought my house in Oct. 2008. I seen mold growth in the shower immediately. I wasn’t educated on mold so I cleaned it with bleach and continued to do so everytime it came back. I believe the contractor for the bank knew about this mold and covered it up. The mold always starts growing back from the patch work he performed. Now it seems to be spreading into the bedroom. It was not disclosed at the time of purchase. My wife, my son, and myself are all showing symptoms of toxic mold exposure. I don’t even know where to begin.
