Black Mold in Sippy Cup Valves?

My son has several different cups that he uses (and really likes). We have the Playtex ones ans some Nuby ones! I went to go refill his Nuby one today (clean) and as I went to go put the valve into it I noticed that there was some black mold IN the valve. I Clean them DAILY in hot (virtually boiling) water and soap, I rinse them very well and I let them dry well before putting them away.

What is causing this? And is there anyway I can get rid of it (safely) so he can keep using his cups? Or should I just scrap the whole thing and buy some new ones (you cant buy new valves for these ones like you can with the Playtex).

Has this happened to anyone, and do you have any suggestions for me to at the very least prevent it from happening?

I’m so irritated!!

Many thanks!

These are the cups in question: (except there is no print, they are plain colored)

Noah’s Mommy, I know I love that you can replace the valves too! Unfortunately thosre ones are perfectly fine! Murphy’s Law!!
lol…Jorge’s Mommy, that would be the smart thing to do ! :-) The nuby ones are cheapies, but he loves them! I’m going to chuck them today and I’m headed to Wal-Mart so i think I will just buy some new Playtex ones!

Mold in car?

This actually happened months ago but now a co-worker freaked me out. My daughter had left her sippy cup in the car. It had milk in it. we didnt realize until a few days later and it had spilled in the bottom flooring of the car. When we discovered it there was white fur all over where the milk was. My husband went in there with some OXY-CLEAN and wiped it out. There is still a stain where the milk was to this day but no mold. My co-worker freaked me out though and said it could be toxic mold and maybe it would still affect us. I though food molds were different

Should I be concerned months later that something is still lurking? I have two young children and they do not appear affected but who knows.

Found black mold on my 6 month old’s window frame?

I just went to get my daughter up from her nap, and something inside me told me to open the blinds which I normally have shut. It’s a good thing I did, because her window frame is COVERED with black mold! What can I use to clean it? Or should the window be replaced now? What can I do to prevent it from happening again? I’ve noticed it’s starting to happen to the window in our bedroom too,but it’s not nearly as bad and it’s only on a ledge out of my range of sight, otherwise I would have noticed it sooner and checked my daughter’s window sooner, too. I’m really worried because I know mold spores can be in the air and I don’t want my daughter getting sick!!

I know this is more of a cleaning question, but you all give such good answers and it involves my baby’s health!
We own our home. We’ve lived here for 2 years and this is the first I’ve seen of mold anywhere. The house is also only 15 years old.
Oh, I should mention that we had an Eco-Energy assessment done 5 months ago and our house is very energy-efficient, not loosing heat, and not letting in cold. Could it be that we have heat in the house and creating condensation on the window from the cold weather outside?
