Do you think the revelation that conditions at Walter Reed Hospital being poor is an outrage?

Last week we were treated to a new exposé of just how fraudulent and shallow and meaningless ”Support Our Troops” is on the lips of those in charge of spending the half a trillion dollars of taxpayers’ money that the Pentagon eats every year.

The Washington Post published an exposé, complete with photographs, revealing that for every inpatient who’s getting the best medical treatment that money can buy at the main hospital at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, there are 17 outpatients warehoused in quarters unfit for human habitation.
Some of the military outpatients are stuck on the Walter Reed campus, a couple of miles from the White House and the Capitol, for as long as 12 months. They’ve been living in rat and roach-infested rooms, some of which are coated in black mold.

The outrage would be if it weren’t taken care of. From what I understand it is being taken care of, and those in control have been dismissed. What more could you want???
I watched the film of the report on TV. I wanted to throw my cup of coffee at the TV! But I didn’t want to waste a good cup of coffee. Anyway….I found it appalling. I hope the person that oversees that place did get fired. They certainly weren’t doing a very good job. Shame on those people who didn’t report it sooner.
Yes, every red cent of your the Bush people could steal went to their war contracting friends. That’s why there are runway strips in Iraq where towns used to be. That’s why mercenaries are blowing up Iraqi citizens by the hundreds every day– using weapons paid for and made in the US. That’s why there are no civilian oriented program (including Medicaid) left in this country. They were hoping to reshape the oil world using your money and US soldiers. Keep supporting journalists who expose the harm bought to these heros. The nation needs to demand that corporate media support real reporters and stop telling us about poor celebrities suffering from post-birth depression. Horrible.
I understand there are some rats, and really huge cockroaches, that eat up all of the tax payer’s money, residing at the White House too!
By the way, rosi I, Bush has said that he will launch an investigation into the matter, which means there will be a committee appointed by him, and this thing will drag on for years before one red cent is applied to this atrocity.

Of course it’s appaling, but at the same time it’s indicative of the financial shortcomings across all Army bases. While some soldiers have relatively modern barracks, others have to share rooms and bathrooms with dozens of other soldiers. Also can you believe that some installations don’t even have air conditioning in barracks. Although money is set aside for capital improvements, it is frequently the first to get chopped because we are trying to fight a war on the cheap.
Tell me everthing you know about Walter Reed Army Medical Center……………………………………………………………… I thought so. I have been there for treatment. Did you know they are perminently closing the entire hospital soon? Did you know that the building in question (Building 18) is only an overflow building for healing servicemen–not part of the main hospital?
If the military had built new or refurbished those buildings at Walter Reed – the Washington Post would have published an expose on the wasting of taxpayer money on buildings that are going to be torn down in a few more years.
The issue is not about taking care of soldiers – all the Washington Post wants to do is take cheap shots at the military.
