Do you need to? It is growing on the grass that is stuck inside the mower. Jet it off with a hose or try a rough brush.
The mold is not going to harm your mower or you.

wash it off with Clorox mix of 50/50 and then hose it off to keep it from returning when it is clean and dry spray the under side with a light oil.(i use a cheap cooking spray)and hose off the bottom and reapply the spray after every 3-4th cut

It is true that the mold wont hurt your mower but it can be transmitted to your grass and could kill it in patches so you need to get rid of it for sure.

Just spray clorox or tilex on your mower where it is and wash it off until its gone – be sure not to wash it off in your grass or plants though.

The key to keeping it off is keeping the surface dry. Mold will grow on any surface if it’s the least bit damp.

I highly recommend scraping off any attached grass with a metal scraper first – wear a mask so you don’t inhale the mold. It’s important that you get it down to the bare metal. Let it dry. Spray it with PAM helps in keeping the metal deck from rusting.

Outside from your house, it can be found in wet leaves in the lawn, in gardening soil and in mulch. When it is relatively dry outside, it may be drifting in the air as mold spores.

Use a wire brush this time and after ever use hose down the mower and pull the grass out from under it.
