Is black mold a serious problem in the Philippines?

Especially, in the lower zones like Malabon, are wood framed homes at high risk? The home I am worried about was flooded 2 or 3 times just this year alone (about 10cm deep in the house). Is this black mold a common health threat there? What are the symptoms of being exposed to the spores continuosly in high amounts?

I don’t think it is much of a serious problem. But in order to be sure, be sure to clean those things which were soak during the flood and try using some antibacterial solutions aside from the soap. I haven’t heard of anyone dying because of the mold though, but nothings wrong if you have to clean it as much as possible.

Not a serious problem in the Philippines.

But if large amounts of spores are inhaled, a serious lung disease will result.

Also, fungal ear infections which can cause pain, temporary hearing loss and in severe cases can damage to the ear canal and tympanic membrane.
