So I have a bunch of those play clays and I want to mold something to put in my crabitat. Is clay toxic to hermit crabs?

Yes! It is also toxic to humans, as I read. Try getting a clay pet house from the pet store, or some safe clay thing from the pet store. Another fun thing to make for your crab(s) is a coconut hut. Buy a coconut, crack it, and there you go! You can also use it as food dish, that’s what I do. Good luck with your hermit crabs! Or crab. Hope this helps!

Whatever you give your hermit crabs, they will try to eat, and since play clay is not such a great idea as a food, don’t do it. Give them a great piece of cholla wood or coconut shell, and they will have a good time climbing and munching at the same time. But modeling clay = bad idea. I rather suspect it would kill the poor things.
