Mold around windows, what to do?

pebbles asked:

Ok, I have 5 hugh windows, 3 of them have blinds up to them. I noticed mold around the whole windows, black fuzzy stuff and some yellowish. Our windows are not in good shape and we cant afford to replace them because of the size(76 long by 102 wide.) We do have a humidifier on our furnace but its on low. Could the problem be with the blinds?? Along with the windows being old?? My daughter is allergic to mold so I am really worried about this. Would caulking the windows work? And if so, what can I use that would come down easily in the summer?? Theres also water laying in the window ledges. Thanks in advance.

This is not a healthy think, of course you know that, but you can contact a window company and have them come out and give you some suggestions, water leaking from cold to warm causing condensation is normal when your windows leak like you allready know, but your truely only process could be replacing windows and putting more insulation around t he windows they put in. I have a new house and ended up putting new windows in mine, there was not enought insulation around the windows, bad shape, I had ice forming on mine, frustration when you have a NEW house, but for health sake get someone to check them and advise you. I’d take clorex and wash the window blinds and windows down, then use white vinegar every other day to help keep them from retarting , but in your situation I don’t believe that’d work

Old windows sweat, clean with some vinegar water and spray with lysol—no mold!

I have the exact same problem with my windows, I’ve tried lysol and vinegar and it did NOT work ! I am only renting, and the landlord won’t replace the windows. I am urged to move immediately because the mold is causing me to sneeze quite often in one day.
