Black Mold

I moved into my apartment last weekend and have since discovered some water damage around the doors and windows and a really yucky black mold growing behind a lot of the molding. I know for a fact that almost the entire place was under water about three years ago but they have since remodeled completely. They claim that the water damage is from an irresponsible niece who left the doors open in the middle of rain storms.

Anyway, since moving in I have been having really bad asthma attacks daily, having to use an inhaler probably 2-3 times a day. I haven’t had to use my inhaler in YEARS! I wheeze almost continually throughout the night. I have contacted the landlord about this but they haven’t done anything yet.

What are my legal rights here? What can I do?

Underneath my kitchen cupboards is green (fuzzy) mold as well as black mold. I have contacted my landlord about the problem. I have a 6 year old boy with asthma, and an 18 month old daughter. We have all been sick with cold like symptoms for over a month now, and also my son has been put back on his 2 inhalers about a month or so ago.
My landlord has someone come in and inspect the mold problem and told me to keep it covered up until they can fix it.
But when I looked underneath my cupboards today it has grown more.
Is this deadly to my kids? I was told by the inspector to clean it with dish soap. What are the laws about mold when you are renting in Canada?

My daughter has asthma and during the time that we lived there she was consistintly in and out of the doctors office because her asthma had gotten so bad.
