Can I kill mold without ripping out the wall?

I had an ice dam on my house, over the past couple of days water has been slowly trickling into my laundry room which has old plaster walls covered in wall paper and paint. The wall and the edge of the ceiling is wet and a little soft in places, and I think mold might be starting to grow, in some places the water running down the walls is orange (I don’t know why, possibly dye from the wallpaper, or something in the wood framing, the house is very old). I wanted to remodel this room eventually but I don’t have the time or money to do it right now. Is there any way to kill or prevent mold growth on and in the walls without ripping them out?

I was thinking of using a spray on the walls … but I have a feeling this is only superficial and that there could still be growth behind the plaster.

I’d just like to get some opinions.

What if my landlord refused a walk-through for the apartment upon move-in?

Hello. Early May, my room mates and I went searching for apartments. We went to one place where the apartment manager showed us the unit we will be living in if we rented there. When we got a walk-through, there were already tenents in there, so we did not get the chance to fully inspect the condition of the apartment. The place was a mess but we figured it was only the current tenents’ mess and it would be cleaned up when we moved in. She assured us that it would be cleaned up. When September arrived, we moved in and found the place to be in shambles, meaning rust on the carpet, bathroom sink wasn’t grouted in replace of what looked like black mold, the fridge wasn’t cleaned etc.. A couple of days after we moved in, we decided to get the apt. manager to do a walk-in so that we can cover our ***** and not get charged for this damage upon move-out. She sourly refused and screamed “if you dont like it, MOVE OUT!!” What to do? Thanks!
We have taken pictures of all the damage and electronically dated them, but have not mailed them to her. Its been 2 months, is it too late for this?
