I have to babies we all sleep together I’m a single mom. I live in an apartment that i continually complained about mold they never did anything about it. One day when i finally decided to just leave I found a huge sheet of mold that looked like moss behind a shelf.
I profusely told them that I wanted to be there when the regional maintanance person came to see it. They did not let me know Bottom line he came and he just cleaned it. Did he clean properly? I don’t know. Did he really do a test on th mold to make sure it’s not toxic? I don’t know? Can they do this. Are there now millions of spores in my little apartment?

Ok, so last night, on the frame of the door and window on the house, we saw these two dark red, maybe a little brown, powdery, bubble type things growing. Thinking it might be mold, we didn’t touch it, but instead poked it with a stick. Of course, a ton of powdery things came out (we are thinking spores). We immediately cleaned it off with bleach water, and are keeping an eye on it. We think it’s mold, but can’t be sure. The front of the house sees sunlight half the day, so I’m not sure how mold could even grow there. If it is mold, what types are red, and is it toxic? Thanks!

Sarah Osborne asked:

For those of you who have some experience of fighting black mold, or what is technically known as stachybotrys chartarum, you would know how health threatening it is. They not only are ugly and unnerving to look at, but the extremely deadly toxins are literally capable of causing respiratory problems and lung damage if not managed in time. While there is countless mold removal products in the market currently that touts to help you get rid of mold fast, there is one very popular home product that is commonly used due to the fact that it is cheap and easy to find. However, there are different opinions on whether bleach can really remove the toxic fungus permanently for good. Let us find out more here.

Many people tend to use the bleach to clean up only black mold infested area and this does not help at all to get rid of mold for good. Bleaching the black mold infested areas is only a temporary approach for mold control, as bleach is incapable of reaching deep into the roots and removing the resilient spores. The temporary nature makes it seems like the fungus is gotten rid of but instead, it is embedded. Instead, to totally annihilate the spores, they must be suffocated in order for the problem to be eliminated once and for all.

One effective approach to achieve total mold annihilation is to use mold removal products that are made strong enough to specifically uproot and kill the spores. There are a wide variety of effective products available in the market for this purpose. However, it is good to take note that due to the powerful effective of the chemical components used, your home environment needs to be well ventilated to disperse the potentially harmful chemicals which could harm the health of your family members.

Another method like exposing the infested area to sun light is deemed as less practical and less viable as not every nook and crevasse can be exposed to the sun. after all, there are many more effective alternatives products to get rid of mold.

Bleach too tends to emit harmful fumes which can be hazardous to the lungs giving rise to respiratory problems. Hence, black mold removal should still be conducted with proper mold removal products in order to get rid of mold for good.
