Black molds are also known as “toxic molds.” They are so named because unlike any other kind of other mold, black mold can cause health risks. Black mold thrives in moist areas preferred and especially in organic and inorganic materials that are cellulose or fiber consistency as paper, cardboard, bread, lint, ceiling, wood paneling, rugs and more. Black mold can contaminate and start growing in your home in cases where there is water damage from flooding and constant moisture in a particular area of your house caused by leaking water pipe. Start black mold removal as soon as possible to prevent its spread and contamination of other areas of your home. Visit moldandmildewremoval.us for more information.

Stachybotrys is the ” toxic black mold”

Stachybotrys is a species of mold more commonly referred to as toxic black mold. Exposure to such molds may lead to serious health problems. First let’s point out that while it’s called “toxic black mold”, it’s not an entirely accurate description. Yes, Stachybotrys produces toxins, but the molds themselves are not toxic or poisonous. This particular mold happens to grow on materials that have a high cellulose and low nitrogen content. In your home you would find those kind of materials on such things as fiberboard, gypsum board, paper, dust and lint. Typically what happens is that mold growth occurs where there is moisture from water damage, leaks, condensation, excessive humidity, or flooding. If you suspect stachybotrys mold in your home, it will have the appearance of a greenish-black fungus, and it will be slimy to the touch. It is very important to check your home for any area where water damage or condensation may occur on the materials I mentioned previously. This type of mold will not grow on plastic, vinyl, or ceramic tiles, so if you’re having problems on those surfaces, you can be confident that it is not stachybotrys. Remember that these mold spores can and will cause serious health problems. I live on the third floor in an apartment building. Few years ago, part of my shower wall broke and expose the inner wall. The maintain people didn’t show up till a month or more. In that month period, I did try to cover it but one day water seep through the hole causing water damage to the second floor and than again but worst water damage to the first floor. The maintain people did a crappy job on the shower wall because they didn’t look for mold, which most people know any water not dry within 48 hour most likely u get mold and they didn’t seal around the bathtub right because water seep through cause farther damage. I keep complaining about the bathtub is sinking but no one believe me…all they did and put more sealing around the bathtub but water always seep in. I keep saying the mold eating the wood supporting the bathtub….Now after years later I was taking a shower and hear a noise and saw the crack in the corner of my bath tub just got bigger and I felt the tub is now a little more slanted. I put a complain in tonight and hopefully they will fix it and do a good job.

Now I stressed out wondering how are they going fix it?
Is it going to affect my neighbors?
What if there toxic mold?

Black mold in my apartment – HELP?

I moved into my apartment last weekend and have since discovered some water damage around the doors and windows and a really yucky black mold growing behind a lot of the molding. I know for a fact that almost the entire place was under water about three years ago but they have since remodeled completely. They claim that the water damage is from an irresponsible niece who left the doors open in the middle of rain storms.

Anyway, since moving in I have been having really bad asthma attacks daily, having to use an inhaler probably 2-3 times a day. I haven’t had to use my inhaler in YEARS! I wheeze almost continually throughout the night. I have contacted the landlord about this but they haven’t done anything yet.

What are my legal rights here? What can I do?
