Patrick D asked:

in the swimming pool and in the laundry room sewage is backing up in the pool and out of the floor of the laundry room some apartments have toxic black mold and low levels of carbon monoxide and the complex has nothing but aluminum wiring running through it and the outlets and switches keep getting burned up every month. So is this place a hazard

um, yes! if the owner or manager won’t do anything about it, call the fire department or the county of health services. take pictures and email the hazard to the departments.

Call the Board of Health and the Building Code Enforcement office in your municipality and register a complaint. We cannot help you.

Sewage is a public health hazard. Call the county health dept. for an inspection.

How do you know the mold is toxic? So far there has only been one case of toxic mold poisoning in the U.S., it was in Portland Oregon and was contracted on Vancouver Island, Canada.

There were many cases of Legionnaire’s Disease that was thought to be caused by mold, but was found to be caused by bacteria from water standing in air conditioning ducts. Still a lot of people thinking all mold is toxic because of the publicity of Legionnaire’s Disease.

Low levels of Carbon Monoxide is what everyone strives for. High levels of Carbon Monoxide is dangerous.

If the Aluminum Wiring was code when the building was constructed, it is grand fathered in and not required to be replaced until a major remodel including wiring is initiated. At that time it will be necessary to replace it.
