What can black mold spores do to your health over a period of time?

hellrazor asked:

I’ve been exposed to black mold over about a year because ive been cleaning out my grandparents house and the upstairs is filled with it. And over the past 2 monthe i’ve been getting really bad times where i could barely breathe and wheeze alot ive also had really bad pains in my kidney area and top of my side. I was hoping somebody could tell me if this might be from the mold or maybe something else. Any help would be greatly appreciated because its been getting worse and worse. Thanks

Any kind of mold can cause damage. I lived in a place with mold for a while. My husband developed asthma and came down with bronchitis monthly. My kids kept getting bronchitis and pneumonia.

The pain in the kidney/side area could actually be your lower lung. You may have also developed asthma. You need to see your doctor to get on some asthma meds, and that will help with the breathing.

Exposure to any kind of mold over a period of time is not at all good for health specially for those who have dust allergies or asthma.

Mold can cause severe illness and it affects upper respiratory system. Difficulty in breathing is one of the symptoms associated with mold exposure. Get a thorough medical checkup and stop working in the moldy environment. It can trigger asthma and other fatal illness for prolong exposure. Don’t risk your health. Besides that, you should practice safety measure whenever handling molds. Wear goggles, face mask, long rubber gloves and disposable clothing. Avoid direct contact with mold at all cost.

It’s hard to say if what your feeling was directly caused from the mold but being exposed to mold for prolonged periods of time or any period of time for that matter is NEVER GOOD. I would recommend seeing a doctor and having a Mold Specialist come out to take a look at your grandparents home because they may be at danger as well if they are still living in the home. Mold can be much more dangerous to elderly and young children then it can be for adults.
